Road tax renewal in Singapore: dates, requirements and reminders
In Singapore road tax is renewed every 6 or 12 months, and the date rarely lines up with anything else in your year. The LTA sends a reminder, but the responsibility stays with the owner.

How to check when your road tax expires
- Log in to OneMotoring (onemotoring.lta.gov.sg) and check the vehicle's road tax expiry date.
- Check the renewal notice from the LTA, if you have received one.
- Look at the previous payment in your records: the renewal period is 6 or 12 months from that point.
What you need before renewing
Insurance and inspection are the usual blockers: if either has lapsed, the renewal cannot go through. Keeping the three dates together is what avoids a last-minute scramble.
- Valid motor insurance covering the new road tax period.
- A passed vehicle inspection, if your car is due for one (older vehicles are inspected periodically).
- A valid COE: road tax cannot run beyond the COE expiry date.
What happens if you renew late
Driving with expired road tax is an offence, and late renewal carries penalty fees that grow the longer it is left. Check the current amounts on the LTA website before the date, not after.
Setting it once
Two to three weeks of notice is comfortable: enough time to renew insurance or book an inspection if needed.
