How to use the list without over-packing
Print it, then cross out whole lines that do not apply to this trip before you start. It is far easier to remove items from a complete list than to remember missing ones from a short one.
Pack by category rather than by day: all the toiletries, then all the clothes. Fewer decisions, fewer gaps.
Three days, a week, or longer
- Three days: everything in the list, quantities for three days, one pair of shoes
- One week: add a second jumper, laundry bag and a spare pair of shoes
- Two weeks or more: plan one wash, and pack for a week rather than fourteen days
