Eid dates in India: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha (Bakrid) 2026 and 2027
In 2027 Eid al-Fitr is expected in India on 9 or 10 March and Eid al-Adha (Bakrid) on 16 or 17 May. The final date is confirmed only after the crescent moon is sighted.
The Islamic calendar is lunar, so Eid moves about 11 days earlier every year. India often celebrates one day after Saudi Arabia.

Planning around Eid
- Zakat al-Fitr must be given before the Eid prayer: set a reminder for the last days of Ramadan.
- Book travel home early: Eid holidays last one or two days and routes fill quickly.
- Order new clothes and have them tailored at least two weeks before; tailors stop taking orders near the end of Ramadan.
- For Bakrid, arrange the qurbani in advance or confirm with the organisation you give it through.
- Note Eidi amounts and the children you want to give to.
Keep up with a moving date
