How the estimate works
The calculator uses a common guideline of about 30–35 ml of water per kilogram of body weight each day. Sport and physically demanding work can increase the estimate by around 10–20%.
Hot weather, pregnancy and breastfeeding can increase your needs further. Ask a healthcare professional for advice tailored to you.
Simple ways to drink more water
Keep a bottle where you can see it, on your desk or in your bag.
Drink a glass after waking up and one before each meal.
Add lemon or mint if plain water feels unappealing.
Drink regularly rather than waiting until you feel very thirsty.
Spread your glasses throughout the day instead of drinking them all at once.
